COVID and Communists … How coverage of Wuhan virus parallels the media’s reporting of the Viet Nam War
I have pondered and question the Marxist media’s coverage of the Wuhan virus story. Nightly, now almost instantaneous, reporting of the positive case numbers…and without reporting the actual morbidity and mortality rates … number of cases does not equal number of fatalities. During the Viet Nam War the media brought to the dinner table news the body counts of Americans and North Vietnamese. Accuracy was not big on the agenda. In fact, a lot of the military’s reports of enemy demise were overestimated. Regardless, the narrative served to turn the opinion of Americans, incite rioters and protesters, and to just seed discontent.
The Wuhan virus story, as being presented by the media, is being used to seed discontent. Investigative reporters are few in modern media. Serious questions are not permitted. Talking points in concert with the approved narrative are the only ones permitted. Any reporter who dares to think independently ends up jobless and pilloried.
For those of us who know and remember the history of the nightly news broadcasts of the 1960’s and early 1970’s I ask you to look at this commentary and ponder its merits.
